Convergys EMEA - New Datacentre Infrastructure Cabling

Convergys has recently undertaken a major project to relocate their central Cambridge and Huntingdon data centres, to a newly purpose built data centre co located at their EMEA headquarters in Cambourne, outside Cambridge. The drivers behind the project were to reduce cost by utilising their current prestigious head offices, and simply put they had outgrown their existing data centre locations.
Convergys chose to work with Distributor SystemsInternational (DSI), a specialist in the design and integration of leading edge IT solutions and services. After detailed discussions with DSI, Convergys decided on installing category 6 (CAT6) network cabling, Panduit patch panels and cable management throughout the new data centre.
Laurence Nevard, Project Manager, Data Centre Services at Convergys explains, "DSI had been a partner to Convergys for over 6 years and are a valued and trusted adviser. DSI spent time with me discussing the requirements and gaining a thorough understanding of what I needed to achieve. I evaluated a number of suppliers and while DSI were not the cheapest or the most costly, their help, advice, and experience, plus our existing knowledge of the team gave me the comfort factor I wanted".
Paul Lyons, Sales Director for DSI explains, "We attended multiple site surveys at the Cambourne offices and also at the new Paris office prior to carrying out the work to make sure the scope of work was exactly as Convergys required and expected. In Cambourne alone we supplied and installed over 104 x 48 port Panduit category 6 patch panels and associated category 6 links, basket tray and cable lay to protect the overhead cables, along with various fibre links and voice patching frames"
Laurence continues: "The whole project was a major success and the data centre is now fully operational. DSI's part in this project helped us make it a very successfull project against tight deadlines ". The new data centre is already expanding and is a credit to the DCS team. In fact Laurence had no hesitation in partnering with us again when he needed to relocate the Paris office across the city into a new purpose built location."
The Paris site while not as large as the UK was still given the full time and attention it required and our team liaised with the Convergys team in France and UK to ensure the project was completed successfully and within budget. Again installing category 6 (CAT6) network cabling, Panduit patch panels and cable management throughout the new office and IT Suite.
